Villa G by Arkham – a modern Italian residence

Villa G by Arkham is a marvelous creation of modern architecture built in contemporary style. Located in Como, Italy, Villa G is a residential project completed in 2012.

Arkham is researching the relationship and the connections between people, parties and places and implements that into the design of its projects. Combining technology and expectations, Villa G by Arkham is a wonderful example of modern architecture. Besides the magnificent landscape the villa offers stunning interiors which combine ultra modern with functionality and style. Built in minimalist style the house offers great living spaces, a swimming pool, spa and relaxation area. The extensive use of glass for the walls of the hallway and the living room walls creates a feeling of space and airiness and you might think there are no walls at all. This allows the sunlight get into the house, keeps the connection to Nature in a most unobtrusive delicate way and the inhabitants can enjoy the wonderful views at all time. Glass walls are used to separate the inside pool too and let natural light inside. The rooms are built around the swimming pool in a continuity with the upper level where one can enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside.

 

The whole building lies on the ground and the swimming pool is the connection with the dining area, the relaxation area of the spa and the open space of the garden and the external environment. All the material used in the construction of Villa G by Arkham are carefully chosen to underline the geometry of design – limestone, large sheets of etched glass and the ice blue stairs that lead to the upper floor. The natural ageing of the materials will add to the overall complexity of the design and add an additional charm to the appearance of the building. The ground floor is in copper and wood and the main window frames are made of bronze. The minimalist kitchen is made of beautifully shaped stone blocks.
