Restaining cabinets – step by step instructions
Remove the cabinet doors from their hinges and unscrew all attached equipment. Take them to another room and make sure the area is well ventilated. Combine cleaner in a bucket with warm water. Wear rubber gloves and eye protection glasses. Wash the cabinets to remove dust, dirt and grease and leave them to dry.
Apply paint stripper to a small section of the wood with a paintbrush to remove any finish which is previously applied and after it bubbles strip it with a sharp tool or a putty knife.
After all the finish is removed, wipe the doors, cabinets and drawer fronts with a damp cloth. Let dry completely and sand with sandpaper to remove any scratches or gouges. Wipe the dust doors and interior when finished.
Apply one coat of paint on the cabinets with smooth, even strokes. Allow the coating to dry before applying the second and final layer.
