Ever popular, Chinese or Eastern inspired interior design has been enjoyed in the West for centuries.  Featured here are images that show how Asian style interior design has evolved to suit contemporary tastes.

As you can see, gone are the predictably dominant reds and jade greens.  In there place is a design scheme that is altogether fresher and lighter.  This gorgeous collection of Asian style interior design\s will no doubt be inspirational if you are looking to change your interior design scheme.

Fresh, light, and elegant, these are words that describe the oriental approach to artwork and these labels also apply to many Asian style interior designs.  Chinese Art and crafts are chiefly inspired by nature, which engenders a plethora of stylized images on prints, ceramics and all decorative items.  Many of these motifs have been adopted here by interior designers and reconfigured to suit interior spaces.

In addition to influences from the natural world Asian artists enjoy a graphic depiction of outline and an emphasis on two dimensional shapes; this can be seen in the way that certain Asian style interior design examples focus on exaggerating linear features such as the edge of staircases and window frames.  Colors range from bright vibrant hues to more subtle pastel shade.  Some room settings concentrate on a monochromatic black and white design scheme.  The variations on the Chinese theme are broad and can be adapted to an infinite number of architectural styles.  Sometimes opulent often minimalist these room illustrations are all design success stories and show the versatility of employing an Asian style interior design.

Many of these rooms have surprisingly regal looking furniture, which imbues a luxurious palatial ambience to the interior design scheme, possibly harking back to the days of prosperity and trade first established in the 17th century.  Other interiors are picking up on the simplicity of pure line form and space.  Interestingly a fusion of these two opposites is also evident in a more eclectic approach to Asian style interior design.

If the concept of Chinese interior design has up until now conjured rather predictable and hackneyed images then maybe its time to review this outlook and open up to a fabulous range of new and exciting design opportunities.
