Butler Armsden Architects have accepted the challenge for a complete house renovation project of a William Wurster house which was originally built in 1939 and is situated in Pacific Heights, California.
William Wurster was a famous American architect who infused modern design with the characteristics of the traditional West Coast architecture and Anglo- spanish ranch. The result is a spectacular wonder of modern interior design accented by unique pieces of modern art that add an incredible atmosphere to the interior.
House renovation project in a minimalist style
The minimalist style is characteristic for this house renovation project. The design is elegant with pure forms and lines. A really remarkable achievement is the fact that despite the modernist style of design we do not see much concrete, glass and steel. The whole project shows the respect to the original design of William Wurster and combines elegance and attention to detail. The house is owned by a family from New York who asked this rigorous renovation and the original design was expanded by the use of more diverse materials of natural origin. The collection of art objects from around the world fits so well in this interior that one can only admire the success of the Revival of American regional architecture.
A spectacular house renovation project completed with style and elegance
Every room in the house is an example of modern elegance and style. Nature is the accent which you may see in the whole house renovation project. The flooring throughout the house features large oak planks. The family room, although contemporary, has a cozy and inviting atmosphere. A stunning piece of art is the kitchen with a counter crafted by concrete in dark red color and a sculptural countertop with dark surface which gives the the bold accent to the neutral colors of the cooking area. The bathroom features an incredible shallow rectangular sink with stylish decoration. A small mirror adds an accent of tradition while a wooden mask gives a touch of exotic twist.
