This time the Australian architecture firm – Richard Cole Architecture has surprised us with a very original design in a traditional rural homes style and has called it the Bluff Farm House.
Besides its traditional elements this home has very interesting modern details that somehow add a nice contemporary flair to the design. The house is located in Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia. The idea for it came up after looking at the appealing, grassy, hilly terrain next to the meandering river and amazing valley that is nearby the location of the Bluff Farm House.
Interior Design of the Living Area
“The essential concept of the house reflects the way in which the owner has always used this place: setting up a table on the grass under the shade of the tree” according to Richard Cole Architecture.
A nice finishing feature is the overhanging roof, which provides a nice shade from the hot sun in the afternoon. It is a great place for reading a book outside or drinking the afternoon tea. The view of the valley is just breathtaking. The exterior’s natural beauty is brought somehow to the interior. The interior itself is made of “raw” materials. The architects mention – galvanized steel, sandstone, recycled timber and plywood. It is hard to define the style of the Bluff Farm House… Some might even say that it is quite modernistic in some way. Well, that is partly true.
Modern Architecture Farm House
Actually, it is a very unique and harmonic mixture of rustic, urban, traditional, and modern designs. One thing is for sure, once you set foot in that house you may not want to leave. You can see from the pictures that the atmosphere is very inviting and comfortable. This mixture of different styles, combined by true artists, makes it very authentic and gives a different idea of the rural homes today.
