Wooden house by CplusC Architects and Builders

What inspires a warm flavor of architecture is a key question when it comes to good custom architecture? Here is a project that stands out as an example of timber architecture.

In fact it is about the renovation of a traditional three-bedroom wooden house, located on a corner site in the inner city Sydney suburb of Queens Park. The Queens Park Residence in Sydney, Australia, is designed and built by Australian architects CplusC Architects and Builders. They truly show love of wood as they heighten the experience of this urban site through the qualities of timber. The second key concept is about promoting connection. If you step into the entry sequence, marked with a magnificent custom designed recycled Jarrah door, incorporating a bespoke hand-turned Jarrah handle, and pass through this portal, the hallway extends through the house as a tree trunk.

This wooden house‘s various rooms branch off it in succession. Around them the butterfly roof form is mirrored while the hallway leads through the structure and into the heart of the house. The roof’s delicate eave detail crafted in Western Red Cedar battens dissipate to a delicate edge against the sky. Around the heart of the home, the open-concept living spaces are surrounded by extensive cabinetry that focus the attention to the centerpiece of the home, a custom Kauri Pine table formed from the home’s original floorboards.

Wooden house – the living room with dining area

The open-plan entertainment area includes generous kitchen, dining spaces and a garden to the rear of the home, where a wood deck encircles the pool. The louvre windows and sliding doors give the Queens Park Residence a sense of spatial continuity and soak the interior with natural light. A detailed pergola structure which is built of Jarrah and Western Red Cedar battens forms the threshold to the outdoors and filters the light to a fine filigree.
