Located between a street and a lake in Kleine Rieteilanden, Amsterdam. This superb house is designed in a cool L-shaped form as to embrace its unusual setting. In order to minimize the exposure to street traffic there is just one floor exposed to the street while the waterfront side enjoys three floors and a full glass-wall facade to maximize the views. There are three layers with a fully transparent end wall. Besides the clear view of the waterfront, this three story apartment is divided with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow substantial amounts of natural light to enter.
Modern architecture- L-shaped house in Amsterdam – the backyard
The ground floor of the modern architecture house is a loft-like space with a timber panel that divides it at zones. The design of the minimalist interior includes smooth concrete coupled with neutral-colored woods and white walls. The minimalist interiors are organized into an open-concept, loft-style main floor with a play area for the kids and adults living area for cooking and entertaining. The interior also features muted grey concrete floors, white walls and white ceilings. Other elements that add character to the place are wooden room-divider panels and drawer/storage assemblies add character to the spaces. Another simple contemporary artistic décor elements add color and character to the home such as pillows, wall hangings, mini-statues, and rugs.
Modern architecture and minimalist interior design
The upper two floors are much more private as there is one level for kids bedroom and one for the adults. Large expanses of glass allow maximum sunlight to heat the house during the cold months.
