Modern house architecture by twentyfourseven

The AE House is designed in Mexico City, Mexico by Mexican architecture studio twentyfourseven. The 817 m² building is completed in 2010.

The architects use the urban plan restrictions and manage to take advantage of it. This modern house architecture takes the best of the site by proper positioning and a shift of volumes.

Modern house architecture – Exterior

The structure of the AE House distinguishes it from all the other houses built on similar sites in the area. Instead of building a single centralized volume twentyfourseven split the minimalistic house into two different volumes. One of them is pushed backward to allow south orientation and the other one extends forward to provide more site views. The extended volume is lifted one level above ground in order to leave the full length of the site open. The two volumes intersect to create the cross-shaped structure of the modern house architecture. At the point of their intersection there is a void that connects the spaces and looks up to the sky. The main structure of the minimalistic house is made more complicated by a series of volume intersections, shifts and displacements that allow some areas to be more private and to experience different spaces and views.

Minimalist living room – AE House in Mexico

The AE House consists of three floor levels including the basement. Its indoor spaces are organized in a simple and clear plan. The entrance of the minimalistic house shelters a social area that is open to the garden at the front and to the patio in the back. That area transforms into a corridor which leads to the rest of the rooms and the staircase to the other levels. The modern house architecture provides comfort for its occupants. It is designed to reveal the beauty of nature in the living areas and bathe them in daylight through glass walls and to ensure enough privacy for the bedroom areas on the last level.

Dining area in the modern minimalist house

The modern house architecture of this minimalistic house is also created to interact with the garden surrounding it. Interior spaces are treated in warm white and dark woods in order to look more natural and correspond with the green vegetation outside. A lot of white is also used in the walls and ceilings to balance the color scheme and outline the separate spaces.
