Airstream house is a modern home of 290 m² built in Bersee, France. It stands proudly on a slope of a narrow-shaped plot that looks rather uncomfortable for situating a building. However, the architects from TANK Architectes manage to take an advantage of the site’s drawbacks. They don’t want the house to turn out too long and narrow in shape so they design it on different levels by using the natural slope of the terrain. Also the owners wish for a single level home and so the design has to be created accordingly. The final decision is to divide the modern home into three parts: one lower level, one upper level and a semi-level.
Modern Home – Airstream House
The first part of this Contemporary Modern Home is on an equal level with the road. It shelters the garage together with the main hall, a cellar, laundry room and a game-room. This level ascends to the upper semi-level part via a staircase. The second part consists of the living areas and is glazed with large windows that bring the natural scenery inside. From here a few more steps lead to the highest level located atop the first part of the modern home with the bedroom areas. The façade is overlaid with wood and glass. Vertically placed timber boards cover the external walls from top to bottom bringing the design in harmony with nature.
Modern Home With Natural Wood Facade
Wood also looks well in combination with the differently sized windows throughout the façade of this modern home. All that glazing brings a lot of daylight inside and ventilates the spaces. The interior design of this modern design house doesn’t use as much natural material as the exterior. Here the architects rely on the standard contemporary look. There is minimal furniture, smooth surfaces in natural colors and a few bright accents. The living areas of the modern house are open from two sides and have their white floors, walls and ceilings shine in the light creating a cool fresh look.
